The floor is the largest surface in any room and the first thing a bad install shows on. We install hardwood, tile, luxury vinyl plank, and carpet with proper subfloor prep so it stays flat, quiet, and tight for the life of the house.

Flooring failures are subfloor failures — squeaks, gaps, and cracked grout come from what's underneath. We level and prep the subfloor, set proper underlayment, and install with the right expansion and waterproofing. Tile gets full mortar coverage and waterproofing in wet areas; hardwood gets acclimated before it goes down.

What's included

• Hardwood install and refinishing

  Site-finished and prefinished hardwood installed over a flat, dry subfloor, and existing floors sanded and refinished when the wood has life left.

• Tile with proper waterproofing

  Full mortar coverage under every tile and a waterproofing membrane in showers, bathrooms, laundry rooms and entries where water lands.

• Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)

  Luxury vinyl plank that's waterproof and durable for busy homes, laid with the right underlayment and expansion gaps.

• Carpet and pad

  Carpet and pad stretched properly over a prepared subfloor so seams stay tight.

• Subfloor leveling and prep

  Flooring failures are subfloor failures: we level, fasten and dry the subfloor before anything goes down, which is what stops squeaks, gaps and cracked grout.

• Heated floor systems

  Electric in-floor heat under tile — our Missoula bathroom used it — wired on a dedicated circuit by our electricians.

What it costs

Flooring is priced by square footage and material — carpet and LVP at one end, tile and hardwood at the other — with subfloor leveling, demolition of the old floor, stairs and the number of rooms and transitions moving the range. Tile in wet areas carries the waterproofing cost, and refinishing existing hardwood costs less than replacing it.

Timeline

1. Selections and acclimation

   Hardwood and some LVP need time in the house before installation.

2. Demolition and subfloor

   Old flooring out, subfloor leveled and prepared.

3. Installation

   Room by room, with tile and waterproofing in wet areas first.

4. Finish

   Site-finished hardwood is sanded and coated after installation; transitions and trim complete the job.
